This article’s featured costume is an adult monk costume. It is fun to play dress up on Halloween. The problem with Halloween is that it only comes once a year! If you like to go out in costume, dressed up as your favorite character, become more active in your community. There are always dress up and theme parties you can find in your area or within a reasonable driving distance. A monk is fun character to betray at any dress up event. Most adult monk costumes will consist of a brown hooded robe, a monk’s cross around the neck and a rope belt to hold the robe closed. What you wear underneath is up to you. The adult monk costume pretty much covers up most of your entire body anyway, so you can just wear a pair of shorts and a short sleeve

If you do decide to go with the adult monk costume, they come in all types and sizes. You don’t have to be an adult to dress up as a monk either. There are children’s monk costumes readily available online and in costume stores everywhere. You can be a modern day monk or a medieval monk.
What is also important is to accessorize your monk costume whether it is for a child or an adult, you certainly don’t want to leave the house in monk’s robes without the monk’s cross or even the jumbo monk rosary beads! “What about the hair”, you may be thinking. Well you could go with the classic black hair wig in the old fashioned bowl cut that has been popular for monks throughout history, or use your imagination and come up with something original.
Ask for support at your costume retailer, they will be happy to make suggestions. If you keep your monk’s robe hood up, you don’t even really need to worry too much about the hair, but consider the climate where you will be wearing your adult monk costume and then decide if the hood may be too much to have up the whole time you are at the party or other dress up function. Just remember, Costumes of all kinds are not just for Halloween, but if you don’t dress up for fun any other time of the year, be sure to at least indulge yourself on that one magical night that gives everyone the perfect excuse to cut loose and dress up as their favorite fantasy character!
